Our people

We employ around 250 people. Some are based in Edinburgh, where we have our headquarters, and others are in offices throughout Scotland. A board oversees our work.

Professor Alan Alexander OBE

Chair of Audit Scotland Board

Alan is a distinguished academic and leading authority on the development of local government in the UK. He has served as a councillor, and is a former chair of Scottish Water and general secretary of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Dr Graham Sharp

Chair of the Accounts Commission for a term of office until October 2021

Chartered accountant who has held several senior positions in finance and has been a member of a number of boards, mainly in the City of London.

Heather Logan

Independent, non-executive director of the Audit Scotland Board

Heather was a member of the Scottish Government's audit and risk committee and chair of the corporate services audit and risk committee. She is is currently Chair of the Audit Committee.

Fraser McKinlay

Director of Performance Audit and Best Value

Fraser is responsible for overseeing the best value audit process, conducting national performance audits for the Accounts Commission, and overseeing any performance audit which focusses on particular value for money issues. He is also Controller of Audit and reports to the Accounts Commission on matters of public interest in local authorities.
